I have a confession..the only reason I buy pretty magazines is so that I can chop them up with my shiny scissors and make pretty things with them.. well I do read them first, usually back wards to front. I start out by cutting out the articles that I want to keep, recipes and the such, and then I flick through looking for anything I can chop out and use in my journals.
I knew as soon as I saw this tag that it would be perfect for this layout which is documenting our day out on the first day of October.
I started by saturating the pages of this notebook, its hand made by me and I used thick watercolour paper so was confident it could take it. Then i dotted and dabbed pieces of colour onto the page, adding water above the colour which caused it to run around the page creating my desired look.
Using the stencil with ink pads gave the background an added interest.
Fussy cutting these images gave me cheap embellishments for this page and I think they look super cute, I used the pumpkin sticker to separate the bird and long strip that I have used kind of like a Washi strip.
Due to my impatients I used a heat tool to dry the paint which also melted the clear plastic pocket, I decided to utilise it by cutting the plastic down and filling it with sequins.
I chose to journal in orange so that it blended onto the page and didn’t become the focus of the page. When using water colour paint always keep your “”mop up” towel, I used mind here to frame my pictures and give them extra texture and dimension.
Much love
